Dr. Jamie Eaddy, DMin, FT — Principal, Thoughtful Transitions

Dr. Jamie Eaddy is a womanist pastoral theologian, clinically trained chaplain, and organizational consultant whose work sits at the intersection of grief, trauma, and institutional transformation. She brings a rigorous, culturally grounded framework to the work of accompanying individuals and organizations through loss, change, and reimagining.

Her practice draws on more than a decade of formation across theology, clinical chaplaincy, thanatology, and organizational leadership. She has consulted with major denominational organizations, universities, government agencies, and nonprofit institutions — bringing trauma-informed, grief-conscious frameworks to leadership teams, staff, and communities navigating significant transition.

Philosophy

Change vs. Transition

There is a difference between change and transition. Change is what happens to us — new leadership, new policies, new staff, new rooms. It's situational and external, and it can happen overnight. Transition is the internal journey we take in response to change — the psychological process of letting go of what was, moving through an uncertain middle, and arriving at something new. Transition takes time. Organizations and individuals often try to install change without ever tending the transition — which is part of why things stay stuck even after the new policy, the new committee, the new building. Real, lasting movement requires attending to both.

"Culture doesn't shift because someone announces a new vision. It shifts because enough people, in enough moments, make enough different choices."
